Q: Is this twinning process the same as traditional twinning links between the UK and western countries?
A: Traditionally town and regional twinning links were established to promote greater understanding between people of different countries, especially on a cultural level. Although there is an element of this in the PONT project, the main reason we have twinned with Mbale in Uganda is to bring about change. Through the twinning process we hope to fight the poverty that afflicts communities in the developing world.
