Here is a summary of our activities to date:

Primary Health Care. Trained 60 Operational Level Health workers (in 3 NGO’s) Trained 450 Community Health Promoters (in 5 NGO’s). All Health workers integrated with 3 District Directors of Health. About 10,000 mosquito nets distributed and followed up. Secondary Health care Training programmes conducted at District Hospital. Endoscopy unit planned for this year. Engineering Mechanical engineering workshop exported and being set up. Funds raised to supply a community with a new water supply. Equipment repaired at district hospital. Orphan support. 450 goats distributed to needy families. Capacity built in 5 NGO’s to manage goat breeding. Schools 46 schools directly twinned in both communities. Plans for tree planting in school yards Plans for agricultural improvement plots on school grounds. Plans for computers and Solar power sources. Churches Pilot microfinance scheme under way. Wedding dress rental shop established. |
Merchandise Regular sales of African craft at PONT functions. Retail outlet sales under progress. University Major conference planned for July in Mbale. Project planned for slum regeneration. Project planned for agricultural improvement (through schools) Political Visit from our Welsh Assembly member (Jane Davidson). Met with Vice President Bukenya and Minister for Health. European twinning covenant signed by Mayor at Strasbourg. Ambulance Two ambulances identified to establish an ambulance service. Funds being raised for a third ambulance. Trainning programme planned for November. Police Training programme planned for November. Finance Accounting team established (to work with each sub committee). About £140K raised in last 3 years. Environment Major UNDP pilot planned for climate mitigation. |
